To Do in RI: 3 days of Greek food, music, dance, marketplace at 97th Annual Greek Festival

The 97^th Annual Greek Festival will be held Friday, August 16th through Sunday, August 18th, at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott St, in Pawtucket. The event will be held on church grounds and hours are:

A weekend of traditional Greek food, music, and dance is in store at the 97^th annual Pawtucket Greek Festival. The annual festival brings thousands of visitors from throughout Southeastern New England coming together to “Be Greek for a Weekend” through food, music, and dance. 

The FOOD:  MENU features church family Recipes to share!  Lamb dinner, Gyro sandwiches, Souvlaki (kebobs) of both pork and chicken, moussaka, pastichio, Greek salad, spanakopita, dolmathes (stuffed grape leaves), and more!  All food items are also available to go.

Friday night menu additions:  Fish plaki, Gigantes (giant lima beans), Stuffed peppers, and Tourlou (baked vegetable mix), plus all the other great menu items.

The PASTRY: Homemade desserts include Baklava, Kourambiethes, Galactobouriko, Almond Rolls, Rice Pudding and MORE! You don’t have to be able to pronounce it to be able to eat it!

The KAFENIO:  One of the best things to do in Greece is to take a break with a Greek Coffee or Caffe Frappe (Greek iced coffee) and enjoy a slice of our famous Baklava Cheesecake!  Stroll on over to our BAR featuring a selection of Greek beers and wines, ouzo, and other adult drinks.

The DANCE:  Dance performances by Elliniki Yperiphania = Greek Pride of RI throughout the weekend:  

• Saturday and Sunday, 4:00 pm featuring our junior troupe.  Senior Troupe performances:
  • “Taverna” performance Friday, 7:00 pm
  • Island dances & costumes, Saturday, 7:00 pm
  • Mainland dances & costumes, Sunday, 7:00 pm

The MUSIC: Friday night DJ with Georgios Karatzas & Athenian Entertainment Band playing Saturday and Sunday nights. All for your listening and dancing pleasure.

The AGORA (Marketplace): Indoor/Outdoor marketplace features a variety of Greek and handmade gift items including jewelry, accessories, religious items, spices, foods, and much more!

Children’s activities including Face Painting on Sunday, and Henna Tattooing on Saturday.

• Free local street parking and FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE with parking across from Pawtucket City Hall (runs every 15 minutes throughout the festival).  Limited handicapped parking on premises.
• Service Animals are welcome – no pets please!
• No smoking in the dining areas
