Chet Holmgren’s so-called ‘rookie’ season with the Oklahoma City Thunder last year was a rousing success.

While there is an argument to be made that he was somewhat overshadowed by Victor Wembanyama in 2024, that was to be expected.

Although Holmgren didn’t quite achieve the same accomplishments on an individual level as his French counterpart from the San Antonio Spurs, his team was significantly more successful.

And aside from one blip on the radar where he got caught up in Josh Giddey’s mess, Holmgren mostly stayed out of trouble off the court as well.

Thanks to Holmgren’s on-the-court efforts, the Thunder sat atop the West for most of the year and made a fairly impressive playoff run for a young team.

While OKC didn’t quite make it to the NBA Finals last season, Holmgren is hoping to change that next year.

Step 1, apparently, is putting on some muscle this offseason. Holmgren showed off the fruits of his labors thus far this summer on social media this week:

While Holmgren undeniably has a skinny frame, you can see that he is getting stronger by the day.

In a lot of ways Holmgren’s body has been deceptive dating back to his days in college. He looks frail, but he never gets bullied or muscled under the basket. He knows how to use his size almost as well as Wembanyama does.

Holmgren is only going to get better next season. And when he does, the Thunder are going to be scary in the West for many years to come going forward.
