Social networks have become a genuine goldmine for celebrities. With just a few clicks, they can promote products or brands to their millions of fans, often for remuneration that reaches astronomical figures. But between the most followed, like Kylie Jenner, and those whose following is significantly smaller, like Mark Wahlberg, which stars are earning the most through Instagram? We take a deep dive into the highest-paid celebrities on Instagram in 2024.

Instagram, social media dedicated to sharing photos and videos, is a lucrative field for celebrities. According to Hopper HQ, a company specialising in social media management, some stars can earn up to USD 3.2 million for a single sponsored post on their Instagram account — such as international soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo.

But which celebrities earn the most overall on Instagram? To draw up a list, the Bored Panda team used Hopper IQ data on the 850 most-followed American personalities on Instagram. They analysed 90,000 publications featuring the words “paid partnership” or hashtags such as #ad or #sponsored, between April 2023 and March 2024 to create a ranking that gives an estimate for the 20 highest-paid celebrities on Instagram.

The highest-paid celebrities on Instagram in 2024

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart tops the list of celebrities making the most on Instagram. He earned a staggering USD 28.1 million last year, thanks to 26 sponsored posts. With almost 180 million followers, Kevin Hart regularly promotes his own brands, such as Gran Coramino tequila, VitaHustle and vegan restaurant Hart House.

But Kevin Hart isn’t the only one who’s been savvy about using Instagram to boost his income. Actor Mark Wahlberg comes fourth in the ranking, with earnings estimated at USD 15.5 million last year, thanks to 88 sponsored posts. Although his follower count is significantly lower than Kevin Hart’s (30.3 million vs 180 million), the actor has managed to diversify his income.

Of course the ranking of the highest-paid celebrities on Instagram would not be complete without the Kardashian-Jenner family. Within the clan, Kylie Jenner tops the list with USD 16.8 million, taking second place ahead of older half-sister Khloe Kardashian (USD 16.78 million). Kendall Jenner takes fifth place (12.4 million), well ahead of Kim Kardashian (12th with 4.4 million) and their mother Kris Jenner (20th with 1.99 million).

These women possess a large community of followers. Kendall Jenner has 293 million followers, Kim Kardashian 362 million and Kris Jenner 52.3 million. The youngest of the group, Kylie Jenner, has 399 million followers, while Khloé Kardashian has 300 million.

Basketball player Stephen Curry is the highest-earning athlete, coming in ninth place overall with USD 7.5 million, followed by two other icons of the Game, LeBron James, in 11th place with USD 6 million, and Shaquille O’Neal (USD 3.5 million).

Among singers and musicians, Jennifer Lopez leads the way with an estimated USD 9.1 million (8th overall). Next in line are Cardi B (USD 6 million) and DJ Khalid (USD 3.4 million). Pop phenom Taylor Swift is not on the list despite her tremendous wealth and success of her record-breaking Eras Tour, probably because her billions are earned from music instead of sponsored social media posts.
