The failed logo prediction: Ravens won’t win Super Bowl LVIII
The Baltimore Ravens were going to win Super Bowl LVIII, according to theory based on the colors in the Super Bowl logo. They were meant to beat the Chiefs in the Conference Game and then triumph over the 49ers in Las Vegas on February 11. But that all fell to pieces when the Chiefs beat them 17-10 in what was in the end a fairly easy victory.
The theory went like this: fans had noticed that the colors of the Super Bowl logo design seemed to predict which teams were going to be in the big Game, simply by being similar to the colors of those teams’ logos.
So, at Super Bowl LVI, the logo colors were orange and yellow, matching the teams in the match: the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams.
While at Super Bowl LVII, the designers went with red and green, CLEARLY referring to the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs Chiefs.
The (failed) prediction for the teams in Super Bowl LVIII
For this year, the Super Bowl LVIII logo is red and purple. According to the theory, that meant the teams had to be the purple Baltimore Ravens, and the red San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs of course are also red, but because the theory required that a team with purple be in the Super Bowl, they were meant to be beaten by the Ravens.
The theory said this year’s Super Bowl would be:
Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers
It won’t.
The Chiefs are into their fourth Super Bowl in five seasons, with Andy Reid’s men, helmed by quarterback Patrick Mahomes looking to defend their 2023 title. In that Game Travis Kelce will be looking to break Jerry Rice’s postseason touchdown record of 22. After his early score against the Ravens, he’s on 19.
