There were plenty of standout performers who entertained Premier League crowds during Gameweek 27.

It was Manchester City who came out on top in their derby meeting with Manchester United, with one local lad in particular stealing the show, while both Liverpool and Tottenham needed late shows to secure victories over the weekend.

Arsenal earned a humungous win on Monday night, while there was little joy for sides at the bottom of the English top flight, with Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town all suffering defeats.

But which players stood out the most? Here are 90min's top performers in Premier League Gameweek 27.

7. Cristian Romero (Tottenham)

Tottenham have had to pull wins out from losing positions on a number of occasions in Ange Postecoglou's debut season in north London and Saturday's victory over Crystal Palace was more of the same.

Eberechi Eze had gifted the visitors the lead with a stunning free-kick, but the lack of a Spurs clean sheet wasn't down to poor performances from centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

It was the Argentinian World Cup winner who rose highest to flick in James Maddison's lobbed cross as Tottenham scored twice in four minutes before Son Heung-min wrapped things up late on.

6. Anthony Gordon (Newcastle)

There was more than a mere banana skin feeling about Newcastle's clash with Wolves. In fact, the Wanderers had moved a point ahead of the Magpies before kick-off.

Thankfully for Eddie Howe, the visitors were less threatening with injured stars Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha both absent, allowing home favourite Anthony Gordon to shine.

The former Everton winger was a constant menace on the break and took advantage of a Jose Sa error to net Newcastle's second, helping the hosts to their first home win of 2024.

5. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

Liverpool are dealing with their injury crisis in the best possible way - by winning all their matches.

It'll be a major boost once the likes of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Allison are back - as well as a raft of others - but in the meantime club captain Virgil van Dijk is keeping all foes at bay with some stout outings in defence.

The Dutchman was cool and composed with teaMMAtes missing all around, largely blunting Forest's attack with his positioning and aerial dominance before substitute Darwin Nunez snatched all three points in controversial fashion.

4. Kai Havertz (Arsenal)

Any Arsenal player who starred in their 6-0 thrashing of Sheffield United on Monday night could have been included here, but it's Kai Havertz who deservedly gets the nod.

The Blades couldn't cope with the Gunners' clever runners all evening and Havertz provided a crisp finish to put his side 4-0 up in just the 25th minute.

The German then teed up Ben White for the Game's last goal, with his league tally now sitting at seven goals and three assists this season.

3. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

There's just no stopping Ollie Watkins right now.

The England international's blitzing form has seen him emerge as the main contender for Erling Haaland's Golden Boot, with his latest brace at Luton Town proving decisive in an ultimately slender 3-2 win.

It's now five strikes in his last three league Games for Watkins, who is a sure bet for a place in England's Euro 2024 squad.

2. Alphonse Areola (West Ham)

West Ham's players have ripped up the narrative in recent weeks, earning two wins on the bounce after David Moyes appeared to be a dead man walking in the Hammers dugout.

The visitors still had to come from behind at Goodison Park after Alphonse Areola's penalty save from Beto, but the Frenchman made nine saves in total before the Irons stole victory through Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez in added time.

1. Phil Foden (Man City)

Man City needed a hero to step forward when they surprisingly went behind to Man Utd in Sunday's local derby.

Marcus Rashford's howitzer put the cat among the pigeons at the Etihad, with the injury-riddled visitors hardly expected offer much of a fight against the in-form treble winners.

Thankfully for Pep Guardiola, Phil Foden is in incredible form. The England star dragged the Cityzens level with a beautiful curling strike from outside the area before popping up again in the 80th minute to finally put the hosts ahead. Erling Haaland later wrapped up the scoring at 3-1.
