Jason Statham will become the “leader”

After 3 films led by veteran face Sylvester Stallone, the film marks the first time Jason Statham has been “promoted” to lead the film. 

The character Lee Christmas, played by Jason Statham, is a former SAS soldier with remarkable close combat abilities and skillful knife techniques. He is the second most iNFLuential person on the team after Barney, and is also the respected captain’s right-hand man and best friend. Christmas’s fighting ability and importance in “The Expendables” are unquestionable, as he is the infamous “assassin” who has defeated the most opponents in the entire team. 

New famous rookies: Megan Fox, 50 Cent 

In August 2021, the Hollywood Reporter reported that three stars Megan Fox, 50 Cent and Thai martial arts superstar Tony Jaa will be the new faces of the movie series The Expendables . 

The addition of this “rookie” cast is quite consistent with the style of the series, as the film is known as a series that brings together a cast of “bloody” action stars in Hollywood. 

As the newest member of the Squad, Megan Fox plays Gina, a former CIA agent and also Lee Christmas’s ex-girlfriend. In the trailer, the audience sees hot scenes of Jason Statham and Megan Fox. This is also a rare time when the audience gets to see Statham have a “loveline” with a female co-star. Especially when it’s sex symbol Megan Fox, these segments make fans excited.  

However, the beauty of the  Transformers  series will not only be the “lover” of the male lead in The Expendables . Unlike most of Fox’s previous roles, she will become an important part of the Elite Squad this time, even with a role revealed to be “equivalent” to Jason Statham. Fox’s powerful but equally captivating action sequences will be a breath of fresh air for the upcoming film.

Besides, three other important names added to the squad are “hip-hop icon” 50 Cent, Thai action star Tony Jaa and lead actor of the Raid series  Iko Uwais. 50 Cent has shared many times about the movie The Expendables  that he is preparing to appear in, revealing that the role of the character Easy Day that he plays is extremely necessary. This rapper even happily commented on Instagram: “This is my movie. Everyone else is just participating”, showing that he is extremely confident in his new work. Meanwhile, Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais promise to bring their trademark heavy action scenes when they first join the Expendables   in a role that is still being kept secret. 

In the “new double”, there is also actor Andy Garcia of The Godfather  part 3, when he plays a CIA agent, who is also the one who assigns the task of hunting down the villains Rahmat & Ocelot to the team.
