Sharjah Book Fair hosts Pakistani artists and authors | The Express Tribune
The annual Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) is in full swing, drawing millions of visitors and showcasing an impressive lineup of speakers, artists, writers, and performers from around the world, including representation from Pakistan, as stated by a press release.
Since its opening on November 6, numerous Pakistani artists, writers, and poets have made appearances. Notable attendees include Rumana Husain and Hamza Ali Abbasi.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, this year’s SIBF features more than 2,500 exhibitors from 112 countries. The fair displays 1.3 million titles, covering topics from Islamic history to modern science and literature, and is expected to welcome millions of visitors until its conclusion on November 17.
The SIBF has attracted a range of distinguished speakers, including Peter Frankopan, author of The Earth Transformed. Discussions at the event centre on a wide range of issues, including literature, culture, and pressing global challenges such as sustainable development and the environment. Over the 12-day fair, visitors can take part in 1,200 activities. Among the key highlights are 400 authors who will be signing books and engaging with readers, creating an interactive space where literature comes alive.
