Steve Clarke has today announced his provisional Scotland squad for the upcoming European Championships in Germany this summer.

A 28-man group has been named and in it, four Celts have been included.

As expected, captain Callum McGregor – who is ever so consistent for his country – makes the cut.

Amid injuries to Nathan Patterson and Aaron Hickey, Anthony Ralston has got the call and barring any last-minute hitches, will be on the plane to the Euros along with his fellow Celtic full-back Greg Taylor.

The last bhoy in the squad is James Forrest, the veteran winger earning a deserved recall for his run-in form.

The 32-year-old has stepped up when it mattered for the Hoops, playing a key role in their third successive Scottish Premiership title. He will play for his country next month for the first time since the last Euros.

Ben Doak, who left Celtic at 16 for Liverpool, has also got the nod.

From today’s squad two players – one ‘keeper and one outfielder – will be dropped for the Euros, but one assumes all the Celts will be off to Germany.

Scotland begins their preparations for the tournament on June 3rd away to Gibraltar before Finland visits Hampden on Friday, June 7th in a send-off Game. The Euros then kick-off a week later as Clarke’s men take on the hosts in the opener.
