The New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers meet in week 2 NFL Preseason action from Levi’s Stadium on Saturday night. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a San Francisco 49ers vs New Orleans Saints.

New Orleans Saints Recap

The New Orleans Saints started their preseason 1-0 by taking out the Arizona Cardinals by a final score of 16-14 in their opener. Following their week 2 clash with the 49ers, the Saints will finish their preseason at home by welcoming the Tennessee Titans to town.

Rattler Comes In Clutch

In the win over Arizona, Jake Haener threw for 107 yards on 9 of 13 passing and Derek Carr threw for 12 yards on 2 of 6 passing, but it was Spencer Rattler who led the final drive, throwing for 70 yards on 9 of 17 passing while also rushing for a touchdown as well. Jordan Mims led the Saints in rushing with 38 rushing yards while James Robinson had 27 rushing yards and Jamaal Williams added 20 rushing yards as well. A.T. Perry led New Orleans’ receiving group with 4 receptions for 85 receiving yards while Dallin Holker added 3 receptions for 24 receiving yards. On defense, Monty Rice led the Saints with 7 solo tackles while the Saints’ defense combined for 4 sacks as a unit, with Bryan Bresee and Niko Lalos each logging a sack individually.

San Francisco 49ers Recap

The San Francisco 49ers come into this one looking to bounce back after starting their preseason with a 17-13 loss at the hands of the Tennessee Titans. Following this week’s tilt with the Saints, the 49ers will head to Sin City to take on the Las Vegas Raiders to close out the preseason.

49ers Passing Game Shines In Defeat

In the loss to Tennessee, Joshua Dobbs threw for 146 yards and an interception on 14 of 20 passing while Brandon Allen threw for 98 yards on 7 of 13 passing. Jordan Mason rushed for a team-high 34 yards and a touchdown and the aforementioned Dobbs called his own number for a 6-yard rushing TD as well. Tay Martin led the 49ers receiving group with 5 grabs for 58 yards while Trent Taylor added 3 receptions for 48 yards. Frank Darby’s lone grab went for 33 yards and Chris Conley had 2 receptions for 30 receiving yards. On defense, Tatum Bethune led the 49ers with 8 total tackles including 5 solo tackles while Kalia Davis added a sack as well in the losing effort.

San Francisco 49ers vs New Orleans Saints

I’m leaning towards the 49ers here. I think the fact that the Saints are favored here is a bit funky, but I like what I saw from the 49ers in the loss to Tennessee, even if we’re only seeing backups, and I think we see a concerted effort from the Niners in their lone home game of the preseason. Some may say that preseason doesn’t matter for the standings and stuff like that, but fans still pay to see these guys play and I think the 49ers want to put out a good effort at home as well. Give me the 49ers and the points.
