Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney make history with Wrexham
The stars aligned for Wrexham on Saturday as they did their bit in putting six goals past lowly Forest Green Rovers to secure all three points at the Racecourse Ground with just two Games left in the 2023-24 season.
With both closest rivals MK Dons and Barrow failing to beat Mansfield Town and Gillingham respectively, Red Dragons fans and Hollywood co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds can bask in the the joy of back-to-back promotions in English Football.
Securing a place in League 1 has marked the first time in Wrexham’s 159-year History that club have achieved successive promotions, and it’s been almost twenty years since the Red Dragons have played in the third tier of English Football.
Wrexham, who scripted a fairytale return to the English Football League last season when they won the National League with a record 111 points, have gained global acclaim thanks to the documentary “Welcome to Wrexham” that chronicles the club’s rise since its purchase by Reynolds and McElhenney in November 2020.
The third edition of the FX/Disney Plus documentary series ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ is set to be released on 2 May and after the heartbreak of falling short in the bid to secure promotion in series one, this time around with a return to League 1, there really is a Hollywood ending for the town of Wrexham and the Football club.
