Ronald Araujo has admitted his future is in the hands of Barcelona amid interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old has been a key player for Barca in recent seasons, earning plaudits for his particularly impressive performances during the title-winning 2022/23 campaign in which the club conceded a measly 20 La Liga goals.

Although La Blaugrana's defence hasn't been as watertight during the current campaign, Araujo has continued to impress - putting in a solid showing in the recent Champions League round of 16 win over SSC Napoli.

Araujo's performances have led to a number of top European clubs registering an interest in his services. 90min reported back in December that Bayern Munich were keen to sign the talented defender, while United have also been credited with an interest in his services too.

Speaking to Sport after Barca's 3-1 win over Napoli, Araujo cast some doubt over his long-term future in Catalonia.

"My future depends on the club," revealed Araujo. "Everyone knows that I am very happy here at Barca. And very grateful to Xavi.

"Very happy with qualifying, we played a great Game at home. The support of our fans was very key from the first minute."

Araujo signed a new four-year contract at Barcelona in 2022, a deal which includes a whopping €1bn release clause.

In a recent interview, Barcelona sporting director Deco discussed Araujo's future, insisting that the club are keen to keep hold of their star centre-back.

"Nothing will happen", said Deco when asked about Araujo and fellow United target Frenkie de Jong's futures.

"They have a contract and we want to keep the best. And they are the best. They are Footballers of the present and the future. They are players who have earned the right to be at Barca and they have earned the respect of the fans and the club. We want to continue counting on them."
