Despite the potential many saw in him to become a staple in the senior squad, Vata’s journey with Celtic concluded with only a handful of appearances, all coming from the bench.

His Instagram message read, “My 12 years at Celtic comes to an end earlier than expected. I would like to thank all the staff I’ve worked with throughout the years for developing me into the player and person I am today. And the fans who believed in me and supported me. I wish Celtic all the best next year.”

Vata’s departure comes after his contract expired, despite offers to stay. His decision to move on was made amidst interest from numerous clubs, but it was Watford that ultimately won the race.
