Rhode Island Weekend Weather for March 11/12, 2023 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Saturday 3/11/23:
Our little pesky storm system will roll out to sea off the mid Atlantic coast, with the periphery of the system affecting us in the way of light overnight and early morning rain with maybe a flake or two in the mix. A low overcast will persist through the midday before thinning, eventually we’ll see some moonlight bust through later in the early evening. Morning lows in the mid 30’s rise to the mid 40’s, but gusty northeasterlies will drag the mood down to a somewhat miserable category.
Sunday 3/12/23:

A more boring but nicer day to close out the weekend, weak surface high pressure doing its best to fill in some gaps, with the effect of partially clearing skies and drier air, but still with the gusty northeasterlies in place, albeit not as intense, so not such a miserable experience as Saturday. Lows in the low 30’s and highs in the low 40’s.

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards, not away from, thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst.
