World’s shortest dog is just 3.59 inches tall — and ‘a bit of a diva’

This Petite pooch has nabbed a huge honor.

The world’s smallest dog is officially a Chihuahua named Pearl, who stands at just 3.59 inches tall and weighs 1.22 pounds.

As of this month, the 2-year-old canine holds the Guinness World Record for the “shortest dog living,” barely longer than a $1 bill.

“We’re blessed to have her,” said her owner, Vanesa Semler, who described her as “small like a ball” and slightly taller than a teacup during an appearance on Guinness’ Italian show “Lo Show Dei Record” on Sunday.

Her owner admitted that Pearl is “a bit of a diva” while also claiming that she loves “dressing up nice.”

“We have lots of fun together,” Semler gushed, adding that she recently took a shopping trip to Milan with her doggie, who appeared unbothered and calm when she was showcased in front of the studio audience.

Born in September 2020 in Orlando, Florida, Pearl weighed less than an ounce and now favors a diet that includes chicken and salmon.

She was measured at the Sunshine State’s Crystal Creek Animal Hospital — coincidentally where she was born — by her vet, Dr. Giovanni Vergel

He used a dog-measuring wicket to calculate her exact height — and recorded her stature three separate times to confirm the results.

Per official Guinness rules, each measurement was taken in a straight vertical line, starting at the base of the front leg foot, up to the top of the withers, which is the ridge between the shoulder blades.

Pearl’s short stature was kept all in the family, as her aunt Milly was the previous record holder and stood at just 3.80 inches; she died in 2020 before Pearl was born.

The tiny dog breed hails from Mexico, and their average weight is only about 6 pounds.

The toy pup also generally grows to between 5 and 8 inches tall, according to the American Kennel Club.

As for the world’s largest dog, his name is Zeus — an American Great Dane who stands at a height of 3 feet 5.18 inches.

The gigantic fur ball lives in Texas with his owner, Brittany Davis.

“He’s been a big dog since we got him, even for a puppy,” she told Guinness World Records last May. “He had huge paws.”

Zeus loves to go on walks around the neighborhood — unless it’s raining, that is — and spends his days sleeping by his window.

But the mischievous mutt is also “stubborn” and likes to eat scraps of food left on countertops when Davis isn’t looking.

And he only drinks water out of the kitchen sink.

Zeus chomps on about 12 cups of large-breed dog food a day, and sometimes for a special treat, he will scarf down a fried egg or munch on ice cubes.

He lives with his owner and three Australian shepherds.
