Warriors Offer For Lauri Markkanen Compared To Lakers’ Offer

The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers are two teams vying for Lauri Markkanen’s services. While the Utah Jazz don’t want to trade the 27-year-old away, they have expressed a willingness to do so if their price is met.

Markkanen is a burgeoning All-Star and inarguably the biggest difference-maker currently on the market. He would immediately improve both the Warriors and the Lakers. That is why both squads have attempted to kick the tires on getting a potential deal done.

The question now is whether acquiring Markkanen is actually achievable for either one.

Los Angeles’ best offer for Markkanen is a matter of public record. But what can Stephen Curry and Co. bring to the table?

The Warriors’ best offer is actually pretty decent. It would involve giving up Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Gary Payton II, an unprotected 2025 first-rounder, an unprotected 2028 first-rounder and then pick swaps in both 2027 and 2029.

In return they’ll probably also be able to get someone like Walker Kessler along with Markkanen.

Is that a worthwhile deal for both sides? That’s the big question here.

Complicating matters even further is the fact that the San Antonio Spurs are also in the mix for Markkanen. Their best offer for him is worth keeping in mind, too.

At the end of the day, it feels inevitable that Markkanen will be moved somewhere at some point. It could be this summer. Or Utah could wait a bit and do it ahead of next year’s NBA Trade Deadline.

But it doesn’t seem like Markkanen’s timeline as a player aligns with the direction the Jazz are currently heading in.

Where will Markkanen ultimately end up playing next when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
