The Minnesota Wild return home this afternoon to host the Nashville Predators at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild are home favorites on the NHL odds board despite a 2-3-1 record in their past six games. 

The Predators are coming off a 2-1 win in Columbus on Saturday afternoon, a game in which they outshot the Blue Jackets 49-33. That was their second straight win and Nashville is now 9-0-1 in its last 10 games.

The Nashville Predators have turned it on after a disappointing homestand out of the All-Star break. The Preds dropped two straight Games at home — including a 9-2 loss to the Stars — before hitting the road for a very successful eight-Game road trip. Nashville has a goal differential of 44-19 during its 9-0-1 stretch.

The Preds’ confidence is showing. They’ve regularly been putting up at least four or five goals with ease while holding their opponents to two goals or fewer. Eight of the Predators’ nine wins during this stretch were by at least two goals.

On the flip side, the Minnesota Wild have been struggling. Sure, they’re on a three-game point streak, but they got outshot 40-30 in the overtime loss in Colorado after beating two of the worst teams in the league (Arizona and San Jose). The Wild are still just 2-3-1 in their last five games while being outscored 19-14.

Nashville's recent stretch has been completely deserved. It has the sixth-best expected goals share in the league at 5-on-5 over the last 10 games per Natural Stat Trick with the Wild sitting in the middle of the pack.

While this is a back-to-back for the Predators, they'll have Juuse Saros in net after starting Kevin Lankinen in Columbus. Saros has been stellar during this stretch, going 7-0-1 with a .940 SV% with just 14 goals allowed in the last eight Games.

It’s also a tough schedule spot for the Wild who will be playing their third game in four days after a back-to-back in Arizona and Colorado.

The Predators are the better team and aren’t afraid of going on the road (19-10-2 this season) while Minnesota is just 15-12-4 at home. Take the plus odds on the Predators.

The Predators beat the Wild 6-1 just 10 days ago and it could be a similar outcome on Sunday afternoon in Minnesota.

Nashville has scored at least four goals in eight of its nine wins during this 10-game hot streak it's on. The Preds also allowed two goals or fewer in eight of those wins, so I'm going with a same-game parlay that would’ve cashed in eight of the Predators’ last 10 games.

Predators vs Wild moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Wild odds opened at -140 but there is some variance on the board now. You can get the Wild between -130 and -148 as of late Saturday night. In turn, after the Predators odds opened at +116, you can get them as high as +124.

The total opened at 5.5 but has moved up to a flat six at most books. You can get Over 5.5 (-138) and Under 5.5 (+112) at FanDuel or Over 6 (+105) and Under 6 (-125) at DraftKings.

It should be Saros starting for the Predators after Lankinen played on Saturday but Minnesota’s goalie is up in the air. The good news is there hasn’t really been much of a difference between Filip Gustavsson (.894 SV%) and Marc-Andre Fleury (.901 SV%) this season.

Either way, I like the Predators to upset the Wild in Minnesota with a slight lean to the Under 6 at plus odds.
