Exciting news for those who get their mail at Hughsonville Mart! As of Monday, October 7th the Hughsonville Post Office has re-opened, complete with brand-new interior renovations at the Hughsonville Mart. The post office and the mart are located at 2337 ROUTE 9D HUGHSONVILLE, NY 12537-9800.

The Hughsonville Market and Post Office can probably best summed up by this glowing Google Review from Angela Jolie Floria:

The Hughsonville Mart is a small store but they have managed to stock quite a few things in a small space. For example, they sell cold & flu medicine, newspapers, scratch- off tickets, foods, beer, beverages, eggs, milk and more.
I have shopped at this mart many times and I will continue to do so because of it's convenient location in Wappingers Falls on Route 9D. Also it actually has a post office within the store. You can buy stamps, take care of other postal related transactions and have a P.O. mailbox there too. It's basically one stop shopping that is quick and simple.

According to USPS, the hours for the Hughsonville Post Office is as follows:

  • Monday
    • 8:00 am - 11:30 am
    • 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Town of Wappinger to Hold Their Halloween Trunk or Treat

Trunk-or-treating - or Halloween Tailgating - is an alternative to trick-or-treating, in which parents and guardians gather their vehicles in one spot, typically a parking lot, open their trunks and give out candy as children walk from car to car. The nice thing about most trunk-or-treats is that they are all mostly BEFORE Halloween, meaning that you can fill up on tons of candy all October long, and then cap it off with the regular door-to-door trick-or-treating on actual Halloween! I see this as an ultimate win!

For those looking to take the family out ahead of Halloween to make the most of Spooky (and Candy) Season, I compiled a list of Dutchess County Trunk or Treats happening. The nice thing about this list is that none of them are happening at the same time, so you can go from one to the other throughout October and get your fill on spooks and sweets.

List of Dutchess County Trunk or Treats for October 2024

Get as much free candy as possible this year! Here are four spooktacular Trunk or Treats happening in Dutchess County this October.

Spirit Halloween Relaunches Spirit Christmas with 3 New York Locations

Spirit Christmas is a seasonal retail store operated by Spencer Spirit Holdings. A sister brand to Spirit Halloween, the store offers various decorations and costumes for the Christmas season, along with visits from Santa Claus. If you're expecting it to be a spooky kind of Christmas store, don't. It will be a tried and true Christmas store.

At some point, the 1990’s incarnation of the store was discontinued. Spencer Gifts tested the concept themselves after acquiring the Spirit Halloween brand in 1999, operating their own Spirit Christmas stores in 2005 and 2006. In 2024, the store was revived once more, with 10 locations set to open. Below, you can find the full list of locations
