What an exciting Home Run Derby last night! Teoscar Hernandez became the first Dodger to ever win the Derby, and now he’ll get ready for the 2024 MLB All-Star Game. It’s a battle between the American and National League and it’s more friendly than competitive, but the players still want to put on a show. I’ve put together a 2024 MLB All-Star Game Same Game Parlay from FanDuel Sportsbook for tonight’s game, so let’s check it out! American League ML over National League (-118)

The National League snapped a 9-year losing streak last year by beating the American League in Seattle by a score of 3-2. However, I’m not expecting the NL to build off of last year’s win. At the plate and on the mound, the American League is better. The AL has a star-studded lineup that is so good that Adley Rutschman and Marcus Semien are the last 2 hitters in the lineup. At the top of the lineup, it goes Steven Kwan, Gunnar Henderson, Juan Soto, Aaron Judge and Yordan Alvarez, which might be the strongest top of the order in MLB All-Star Game history.

Plus, the AL has Corey Seager, Bobby Witt Jr. and Jarren Duran, among others, coming off the bench. That’s a lot of depth for the AL, and we haven’t even got into the pitching staff yet. We could see a mixture of Corbin Burnes, Garrett Crochet, Tanner Houck, Seth Lugo, Mason Miller, Andres Munoz and Emmanuel Clase for the AL. If that’s the case, I’m not sure how the National League will even get a run.

Steven Kwan to record a hit (+100)

Hitting a baseball in the Majors is tough — except if you’re Steven Kwan. The Guardians leadoff hitter hit for a .352 average and .407 on-base percentage in the first half of the season. His bat-to-ball skills are absolutely incredible, and his eye might be even more impressive. He finished the first half of the year ranked in the 100th percentile in whiff rate and strikeout rate. Plus, his .312 xBA ranked in the 98th percentile. His swing keeps the barrel of the bat in the zone for so long which should help him tonight. Kwan will likely get at least 2 at-bats, and his first one will be against Paul Skenes. Although Skenes will be pumping triple-digits, Kwan has a .384 batting average and just a 3.5% whiff rate against fastballs this season. It’s worth a shot with how well Kwan has been playing this year.

Trea Turner to record a hit (+100)

Trea Turner will be making his 3rd MLB All-Star Game appearance tonight, and so far, he’s 1-for-4 in the ASG in his career. The good news is that Turner has had 2 at-bats in both games he’s played in, so I feel comfortable expecting the same tonight. His first at-bat will come against Corbin Burnes since Turner has been slotted as the 3-hitter for the National League. In his career, Turner is 4-for-10 with only 1 strikeout against Burnes. That’s a solid success rate against one of the best pitchers in the game. A big reason for his success against Burnes is how well he hits the cutter. The cutter is Burnes’ bread and butter, and will almost certainly be his most thrown pitch in the first inning. Turner is hitting .526 with a .842 slugging percentage against cutters in 2024. He might not even need the second at-bat to record a hit!
