The Denver Nuggets are coming off something of a disappointing campaign during the 2023-24 NBA season.

A year removed from winning the championship, Nikola Jokic and Co. flamed out early and failed to even make it to even make it out of the second round.

The standout moment of the year for the Nuggets, as a result, proved to be that one Game where a female fan distracted all the players while sitting courtside.

Ahead of the 2024-25 season tipping off, reports have surfaced that the front office is considering adding Jokic’s best friend to the team.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Nuggets are currently thinking about adding Jokic’s best friend to the roster.

Vasilije Micic, fresh off winning a bronze for Serbia in the 2024 Paris Olympics, is a member of the Charlotte Hornets at the moment. That said, a divorce appears imminent – and Denver seems primed to add him.

“With a salary of $7.7 million this season and an $8.1 million team option in 2025-26, Vasilije Micić continues to be mentioned as a potential down-the-road trade target for Denver given Micic’s close relationship with Nuggets star Nikola Jokić,” Stein wrote.

“Bear in mind, though, Denver is just $5 million or so shy of the second luxury tax apron and thus couldn’t absorb Micić’s contract without dreaded second-apron complications. The Hornets could also elect to keep Micić around to play behind former All-Star LaMelo Ball.”

Micic is a very talented player in his own right. He captured the 2021 EuroLeague MVP and that year’s Final Four MVP. He also won the Final MVP award in 2022. Along the way, he guided Anadolu Efes to back-to-back championships.

If Denver can make the math work, Micic could prove to be a very nice pickup for the franchise. One way or another, the Nuggets figure to make a decision on his standing sooner rather than later.
