The younger sister of Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton Rothschild is as much a self-made entrepreneur as her famous sibling. A fashion icon and designer with a portfolio of successful Business ventures, Nicky Hilton’s net worth in 2024 is a reflection of her creative work away from the family shadow.

The Hilton family scion is the great-granddaughter of Hilton Hotels founder Conrad Hilton, granddaughter of Barron Hilton, and the daughter of Richard and Kathy Hilton. Not only does she hail from one of the wealthiest business families in the US, but she is also married into another affluent dynasty, which boosts Nicky Hilton’s burgeoning net worth.

Nicky Hilton launched a clothing line

In 2004, Hilton launched her own clothing line called Chick by Nicky Hilton. It offered a range of bohemian apparel, tank tops, tie-and-dye boho skirts, graphic t-shirts with ‘Billionheir’ print, jeans and other outfits for the tweenage years that are characterised by Y2K fashion.

Although reports suggest that the business faced setbacks, the fashion designer continued to expand it. In 2006, she launched her second clothing line, Nicky Hilton Beverly Hills. According to Today, Hilton described this new label as “clothes my friends and I could wear.” She also hinted that the products were priced at a lower range. “I don’t want to be one of those celebrities that slaps their name on a label and collects royalty checks,” she said. Pearls, polka dots and a pink palm tree motif dominated Nicky Hilton Beverly Hills garments.

Earnings from these endeavours are not disclosed publicly, but while they were on the shelves, they seem to have added considerably to her net worth.

Hilton has collaborated with several other brands to launch her collections. In 2018, she announced a capsule collection with Tolani, marking her maiden steps in the domain of children’s wear. Titled Nicky Hilton x Tolani “Mommy and Me”, it offers vibrant dresses for both mothers and children. She announced the spring arrival with an adorable photo of herself and her then-18-month-old daughter Lily-Grace.

In 2015, the Hilton descendant joined forces with LA-based handbag brand Linea Pelle to create NH Nicky Hilton x Linea Pelle. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the 10-line range was priced from USD 44 to USD 190. The clutches and totes were available in black, bone and leopard prints and were christened after the designer’s favourite hotels — Chateau, Plaza and Claridges.

Speaking about her experience with the retail Business to the publication in 2015, Hilton said, “I love going to trade shows. A lot of people in my position don’t; they just slap their name on something. My mother always said, ‘If you are not going to wear it, then don’t put your name on it.’”

This is also a nod to her roots as Hilton began designing bags 18 for Samantha Thavasa.

In 2019, she collaborated with French Soles to venture into the footwear segment. Designed with comfort at its core, these ballerina flats use the softness of velvet to add chic style and a hint of feminine touch.

“I’ve always loved the comfort and style that ballet flats have to offer, especially if they’re designed by French Sole, so I’ve joined forces with them to design my own collection. Together, we’ve created a fresh perspective for the brand, proving anyone can enjoy comfort and city style at the same time,” Hilton’s website quoted her saying.

Besides these, Hilton has also added a jewellery line and designed an apparel range for eLuxe, among many other things, to her creative resume. Much like her famous sister, these business endeavours have helped pillar Nicky Hilton’s fortune considerably.

Did you know Nicky Hilton has authored a book?

In 2014, the fashion aficionado decided not to restrict her creative vision and wrote her first book titled 365 Style. Coming from the unique perspective of someone who has both been an observer and a muse, the book reveals tips and tricks of the industry and helps you find your personal fashion mantra.

To spread the word about elegant dressing and serving suave looks, 365 Style also sheds light on Hilton’s journey of finding her own style. She is an advocate of the ‘less is more’ philosophy and has never used a stylist to curate her looks.

“No amount of money can buy you style. You don’t need a huge bank account – you need originality, imagination, confidence… and my book!” states her website.

Though how much the book added to Hilton’s net worth is unknown, considering she has earned a reputation as a bonafide fashionista, it is likely to have gained a high readership.

Family connections, personal life and education

Nicky Hilton’s last name speaks volumes about her elite family lineage. She was born Nicholai Olivia Hilton on 5 October 1983 to Richard Hilton and Kyle Richards and is the second among four siblings — Paris, Barron Hilton II and Conrad Hughes Hilton. Nicky graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in 2001 and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design.

Without any doubt, Hilton Hotels offers one of the most sought-after chains of luxury stays in the world. It all started with Conrad Hilton who laid the foundation stones. When he passed away in 1979, he was worth nearly USD 1 billion. While this would naturally imply that Nicky Hilton would have inherited her family fortune, things did not pan out that way.

The Hilton Hotels founder had given most of his wealth to the Conrad Hilton Foundation. His son, Nicky’s grandfather, Barron Hilton challenged the will and later won back four million shares. But, things went south again in 2007 when Barron Hilton gave away nearly 97 per cent of his USD 4.5 billion fortune to the foundation. When he passed away in 2019, Paris and Nicky Hilton inherited just about USD 5.6 million each.

Her father’s real estate Business, her mother’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stint and her various endeavours helped buoy the junior Hilton scion’s net worth.

In 2004, she tied the knot with her childhood friend Todd Meisner, but Nicky Hilton’s first marriage ended in a couple of months.

Their nuptials were held at a star-studded gala event at Kensington Palace, and since then, the couple has welcomed three children — Lily-Grace Victoria and Theodora “Teddy” Marilyn and son Chasen. According to a 2023 report by The Sunday Times, the Rothschild Family has an estimated net worth of around GBP 825 million (over USD 1 billion), but in February 2024, The Things stated James’ wealth stands at around USD 1.3 billion.

Nicky Hilton opted for a custom Valentino gown for the first time for her marriage with James Rothschild. The wedding dress, which cost over USD 50,000, featured intricate floral lace detailing and was complemented by a long trailing veil and a bouquet of white roses and baby breaths.

According to PEOPLE, the Hilton family heiress had worked with the luxury label for six months. She decided on the look after browsing through all their designs and gowns created over the last decade before her wedding.

Valentino’s Instagram post about the dress mentions that it was designed by Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.

“The gown was composed with three different tones of ivory and silver guipure richly embellished with crystals. The high-neck bodice [was] stitched to a precious balloon skirt ending with a three-metre-long train. Covered with a long veil, [it] is enriched all around the edge with precious vintage lace.” She also wore beautiful custom shoes embedded with her wedding date.

The couple lives in a stunning NYC penthouse with their family. The entire house is kid-friendly, something that is of utmost importance to Hilton as she did not want to bar them from going to any corner. Speaking to Architectural Digest in 2018, she said, “James did the vast majority, but I added my little feminine touches, my little accessories.”

Located in the posh NoHo district, the penthouse is dotted with soft chic colourways and drapes. Antique furniture and gorgeous paintings, a loft-like drawing room, a fireplace, ample open space and floor-to-ceiling windows make it a perfect family abode.

PEOPLE states that in 2007, Hilton shelled out USD 3 million for a Hollywood Hills house. It comprised four and a half bathrooms, a combination office gym, a family room for entertaining and a swimming pool. It was spread over 4,000 sq ft (over 370 sq m) and was a 1940s-style vintage property.
