NHL Parlay Picks & Predictions for Saturday at +901 odds, 10/14

After a light 2-Game slate on Friday night, the NHL is back in full swing. There are set to be a few nights with the entire league in action, and even ESPN will be trying out a hockey version of NFL Red Zone with the Frozen Frenzy for those nights. We aren’t there quite yet, but 28 of 30 teams take the ice throughout the day today.

So, why not capitalize by piecing together a mega parlay? That’s what we have for you with my 3 most valuable plays, so let’s get into it.

Ottawa Senators -1.5 (+140) over Philadelphia Flyers

I’m not wasting any time getting things started with my NHL mega parlay, as the Ottawa Senators are hosting the Philadelphia Flyers to get the day started at 1:00 pm ET. These are 2 Eastern Conference teams simply trying to make it back to the postseason, and the Sens have been much closer of late. They finished with 11 more points than the Flyers last season, and Philly did very little in the offseason for anyone to expect them to perform any better. They won their season opener, but that was against the Columbus Blue Jackets — one of the very few teams that finished worse than the Flyers last year. 

Although Ottawa lost their season opener, they were on the road in Carolina to take on the Hurricanes — who are the odds-on favorites to win the Stanley Cup. In terms of recent History, the Senators also won the season series against the Flyers last season, including each of the last 2 matchups. Ottawa also still has Claude Giroux, and although he’s already faced his former team, would still love to continue taking down the franchise that once named him captain only to trade him away. The Senators are going to need to improve their goaltending if they want to reach the postseason, but they can at least take care of Philly today. 

Seattle Kraken ML (-110) over St. Louis Blues

Another team that hasn’t started out on the right foot that we were expecting to get back on track is the Seattle Kraken. In just their second year as a franchise last season, they made the playoffs. Not only did they make it, but they eliminated the reigning champion Colorado Avalanche. Following a rough start to the 2023-24 campaign, they now have an optimal matchup to get in the win column. They will be on the road, but that’s about the only thing going against them. The St. Louis Blues also lost their season opener and I’m not anticipating a great year from them. 

After being major sellers at the trade deadline last year, they made no significant additions over the summer. That means Jordan Binnington is remaining in net and he was the primary reason that St. Louis allowed the 6th-most goals per game last year. That was perfectly illustrated in the last 2 meetings between these teams, which were both Kraken wins as they scored 5 goals in each. Consider taking the Kraken’s 3-way ML for an even more substantial NHL mega parlay, but I’m rolling with their regular money line.

Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (+120) over Vancouver Canucks

To keep the theme of supporting teams bouncing back from a rough season opener, I’m targeting Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers to finish off our NHL parlay picks. It’s difficult not to support such an incredible talent, especially after being embarrassed the other night. It was against the same opponent they face tonight in the Vancouver Canucks. It was one of the most surprising results of the first week of the season, but the Oilers now get to answer right back, this time on home ice. 

They handled the Canucks rather easily last season, winning the season series with their 2 victories each coming by multiple goals. Since then Vancouver has traded former captain Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders. In other words, don’t expect another 4-goal night from Brock Boeser — who scored 18 goals all of last season. Consider some McDavid props, as well, but for this NHL mega parlay purposes I’m rounding things out with a convincing win for the Oilers.
