Motherwell striker Apostolos Stamatelopoulos has named the trio of Celtic players he thinks are ‘top’.

The Australian international joined the Steelmen in the summer transfer window but has scored just once in six appearances up to this point.

Set to face the Scottish Premiership champions this weekend, Stamatelopoulos addressed the press in the build-up to the match, describing the elite levels of the Hoops’ Japanese contingent.

Indeed, Stamatelopoulos was full of praise for Celtic’s Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, and Kyogo Furuhashi, having watched them play while on international duty with the Socceroos.

“I played against them, and sat on the bench and saw the quality that national team [Japan] has,” revealed the frontman [PLZ Soccer].

“Maeda, Hatate, and Kyogo, I feel, are top players.”

Stamatelopoulos will get up close and personal with Celtic’s Japanese trio this afternoon when the sides meet at Fir Park.

Fresh off the back of a terrific point in Bergamo, pressure is on the Bhoys to get themselves back on top of the Scottish Premiership table after Aberdeen beat Dundee United last night courtesy of a late winner.

The Dons are the Bhoys’ foremost title challengers at the minute, and the Hoops must keep up the pace with them this afternoon in Lanarkshire.

Kick-off is at 3pm, as the Celts aim to return to winning ways and secure their first victory since the before the last international break.

Brendan Rodgers will likely make a few alterations to Wednesday’s team and look to prove the ample squad depth at his disposal.
