This season has not been one to remember for the Yankees. They will finish above .500, but they missed the playoffs and were very average compared to expectations. They wouldn’t mind going out with a win just to show a little bit of pride. With nothing to play for, the Yankees have played decent lately. They are 6-3 in their last 9 games, they are 11-2 in the last 13 played against the Royals, and they are 5-1 in their last 6 games played in Kansas City.

The Royals flirted with History in a way they would not prefer. They were almost historically bad but turned it on out of nowhere this month. They have now lost 4 out of their last 5 Games to the Tigers and Yankees. The season cannot end fast enough for the Royals. This should be a Game where they just go through the motions as a formality to get to the end of the season. The Yankees should be able to roll.

Tigers win and game total over 8.5 (+400)

The Tigers are another team that has not had anything to play for, but have actually played very good baseball. They are 8-3 in their last 11 games and 4-1 in their last 5 at home. The Guardians are limping through the finish line a little bit. The Tigers passed the Guardians in the standings and Cleveland is 2-4 in their last 6 games, 2-5 in their last 7 against Detroit, and 1-5 in their last 6 games on the road.

The pitching matchup features Eduardo Rodriguez for the Tigers and Lucas Giolito for the Angels. Rodriguez has had a very good year, but Giolito is the one that gives the over appeal. In 32 starts this season, Giolito has a 4.77 ERA and has allowed 8 earned runs in his last 8.2 innings pitched. The Tigers have produced at a solid clip lately and have a great opportunity to generate runs again today. It shouldn’t take many runs for the Guardians to contribute to the over.
