Is Lainey Wilson Married? Country Star’s Marital Status Amid Duck Hodges Romance

Lainey Wilson shot to the top of the charts and became the biggest thing in country music after a whirlwind 2023. While broadcasting her life on social media, playing a love interest in the smash hit Yellowstone and releasing back to back albums with Bell Bottom Country and Whirlwind, Lainey has still managed to keep her personal life private.

Lainey is not married but she has been in a long term relationship with boyfriend Delvin “Duck” Hodges. The pair began dating in 2021 but did not walk their first red carPet together for two years. 

“I said, ‘We gonna see if you’re in it for the right reasons.’ Turns out, he is,” she told People in June 2023, after introducing the world to her man at the 2023 Academy of Country Music Awards. “Somebody said how funny it was watching him high-five all of my artist friends at the ACMs, and I said, ‘Those are his friends!’”

She added, “”He’ll FaceTime me, and he’ll be with HARDY and Morgan [Wallen] and Luke [Combs], and I’m like, ‘Stop stealing all my buddies.’ They’ll always be out Golfing and drinking a beer. I don’t have to convince anybody to like him. He’s a very lovable person.”

The happy couple made a recent red carPet appearance at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards in Nashville on November 20, 2024. One month prior, Lainey gushed about her man in a sweet Instagram video set to her hit song “4x4xU.”

“Ain’t nowhere I’d rather be,” she captioned the video showing her sitting beside Duck as he drove a 4×4 down a rocky path.

“Ain’t nowhere I’d rather be/ Than in a 4x4xU, babe/ NYC to L.A./ City to the country/ From here to Kalamazoo/ Boy, after a long day/ You know there ain’t no wrong way/ To drive my crazy crazy/ In a 4x4xU,” Lainey sings in the tune.

How Did Lainey Wilson and Duck Hodges Meet?

According to the “Heart Like a Truck” artist, she and Duck met through mutual friends. 

“We went to this old place called Silverados, and it had free beer and wine from 5 to 10 p.m.,” she said of their first date. “I was like, ‘This boy likes to ball on a budget too. This is gonna work out.’ Duck is the kind of dude who high-fives me on the way in the door and on the way out and says, ‘Go get it.’ He knows how important this dream is to me.”

After two years of keeping their relationship under wraps, Lainey added, “It feels really good to talk about it.”

Who Is Delvin ‘Duck’ Hodges?

Delvin is a former NFL quarterback. He was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2019. While his NFL career was short-lived, he later signed with the Ottawa Redblacks in September 2021.

Delvin got his nickname “Duck” from his college football coach at Alabama’s Samford University. 

“His college Football coach was like, ‘You’re one of the best quarterbacks I’ve ever worked with. You remind me of one of my favorite quarterbacks I got to work with years ago and we called him Duck,’” Lainey shared. “And so the team just kind of started calling him Duck.”

Ironically, Duck is also known for his duck calling skills, and he even won the 2018 Alabama State Duck Calling Championship. 

Since leaving his Football career behind, Delvin now works as a real estate agent with Mossy Oak Properties in Louisiana.
