Blue Jays -1.5 (+160)

The Blue Jays had a brutal week which saw them get swept in 4 Games by a combined score of 35-9, but they bounced back with a very badly-needed 3-0 win over the Red Sox on Friday. They really need a repeat performance today as they are currently outside the playoff picture by a half-Game. The urgency is high in Toronto and their play should reflect that. Fortunately for the Blue Jays, they get a favorable matchup this weekend.

The Red Sox have been spiraling downward for a couple of weeks now. They are 5-13 in their last 18 games and are 1-4 in their last 5 against the Blue Jays. Toronto has got the job done recently against bad teams. In their 12 games prior to getting whooped by Texas this week, the Blue Jays were 9-3 against the Nationals, Rockies, A’s and Royals. They really need to continue that winning trend against bad teams and have a great shot to do so again today.

Rangers -1.5 (+164)

The tough week for the Blue Jays was a great week for the Rangers. Texas won 6 straight games including a dominant sweep over a good Toronto team. The Rangers were beaten badly on Friday, though, as the Guardians won 12-3. This is a big-time bounce-back spot for a good Rangers team that is a half-game back in the AL West and clinging to a 1-game lead for the second wild-card.

The Guardians are 4-8 in their last 12 games, which is part of a longer downward spiral. Since July 28, when they were in contention in the AL Central, they have gone 18-28. There is just not much to get excited about with this team. Their pitching is typically solid but their offense leaves plenty to be desired. The Rangers will come out looking to prove that Friday was an outlier and run up the score.

Astros ML (-148)

The Houston Astros are another team battling for the AL West in what is arguably the best division race. They get a very favorable matchup at a great time as they are leading the division by a half-game over the Rangers and by 1.5 games over the Mariners. That is not a cozy lead and the Astros will play with plenty of urgency looking to collect a win to keep pace. The Astros are already the stronger team in this game and the incentive to win only amplifies their advantage.

The Royals are reaching near historic levels of bad this year. Not much has changed lately as they are 6-13 in their last 19 games and 4-9 in their last 13 at home. It might seem that as long as the Astros just show up, they will get the win just fine, but that was not the case on Friday as the Royals won 4-2. Houston will be looking to bounce back in a big way and turn around a current 1-3 stretch. They certainly have the talent advantage to do so.
