With plenty of MLB Games taking place each day, one of the quickest bets you can make is if a run will be scored in the first inning. There is value to be had and this market has become very popular over time. If you don’t like sweating out your bets for 3 hours, this one will take only about 15 minutes. I’m on a 35-19 run with my YRFI/NRFI plays, so let’s keep this momentum going! But before we dive in, don’t forget to check out our MLB picks for each of today’s matchups.

Houston Astros vs Arizona Diamondbacks: NRFI (+102)

For my first pick on Friday’s card, I’ll be targeting the NRFI in this matchup between the Houston Astros and Arizona Diamondbacks. Zac Gallen will be making his last start prior to the start of next week’s playoffs, and I think he should be motivated to finish the season strong after just tossing 6 shutout innings in his previous outing. He’ll be going up against an Astros lineup that is swinging the bats well at the moment, but has shown to be extremely inconsistent throughout the entirety of this season, especially against quality opposition. And while J.P. France has quietly been due for a regression for a while now, the Diamondbacks offense has gotten off to slow starts in 4 of their last 6 Games. Let’s take a shot on the NRFI.

Philadelphia Phillies vs New York Mets: YRFI (-110)

The NL East has been locked up for a while now, and we’re at the stage in the final week of the season where teams outside of the playoff picture are limping to the finish line and teams in the playoff picture are just hoping to make it to the postseason fully Healthy. This will be the last tune-up for Taijuan Walker before he enters the Phillies postseason rotation, but his peripherals and advanced metrics alike (4.35 ERA, 4.49 xERA) show that Walker has been a middling pitcher all season long. On the other side, the Mets are going with Tylor Megill, who just surrendered a first-inning run against the Phillies in his last outing. The Phillies offense could be sleepwalking here, but Philadelphia just put up 22 runs in 4 Games against this same Mets team last week. Let’s take the YRFI in this one.
