MLB picks 9/24 YRFI & NRFI best bets today | Pickswise
Don’t like sitting around for the entirety of a baseball game waiting for your bet to cash? Well then, the YRFI/NRFI market may be your new favorite betting strategy. Just reserve about 10 to 15 minutes to watch the first inning and forget about the other eight. We have all 30 teams in action today, starting in Tampa and ending in Los Angeles with the Dodgers. So, let’s get right into it, and don’t forget to check out our MLB picks on the side and total for every game today.
Seattle Mariners vs Texas Rangers: NRFI (+100)
The books are certainly projecting a high-scoring ballGame between the Mariners and the Rangers, but I’m on the other side and picking a scoreless first inning at Globe Life Field. Bryan Woo takes the ball for the Mariners and was hit hard his first time against this Rangers’ lineup, allowing 6 earned runs on 7 hits and 1 walk across just 2.0 innings. However, I’m willing to give Woo the benefit of the doubt as that was his Major League debut and it came against one of the best lineups in the Game. Since his debut, Woo has pitched quite well, owning a 3.32 ERA over his next 15 starts and is scoreless through his last 10.2 innings.
For the Rangers, it’ll be 33-year-old veteran right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Through 23 starts, Eovaldi is pitching to a 3.05 ERA and tossed a 6.0-inning shutout against the Mariners back on June 4. Eovaldi threw just 87 pitches in the outing, surrendering 1 lone hit and 2 baserunners in all. I’d expect Eovaldi to find similar success this afternoon, especially against a Seattle lineup that got blanked yesterday. In addition to Seattle’s struggles yesterday, Eovaldi has had success against both J.P. Crawford and Julio Rodriguez, who are hitting a combined 1-for-14 lifetime against Eovaldi.

New York Mets vs Philadelphia Phillies: YRFI (-125)
For my second pick, we head to Citizens Bank Park where the Phillies seek a sweep of the New York Mets. I’m siding with some runs in the first inning of this ballgame, as the series has been high scoring in general. The game total over has hit in 2 of their 3 games this series with a combined 30 runs, and I foresee similar results this evening. Jose Butto takes the ball for the Mets, and while he owns a respectable 3.09 ERA across 32.0 innings, I have some concerns. Butto is walking 14.0% of his batters and has 19 walks to just 29 strikeouts. That could be an issue against Kyle Schwarber who ranks in the 99th percentile in walk rate, while Bryce Harper and Alec Bohm each homered in yesterday’s win.
The Phillies counter with left-hander Cristopher Sanchez, who’s generally done a great job at the backend of the Phillies’ rotation since his callup in mid-June. Unlike Butto, Sanchez is always around the zone and hardly gives up free passes (4.1% walk rate). While being around the zone limits walks, it could also lead to more aggressive at-bats from the top of the lineup, which has been the case for Sanchez. Although Sanchez is pitching to a 3.18 ERA in the first inning across 17 starts, his .784 OPS is the second highest mark of any other inning. In addition to that, 10 of the 15 home runs Sanchez has given up this season have come in the first 2 innings and 13 have come at home. Pete Alonso already has 1 off Sanchez in 5 at-bats, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him come out swinging again today.
