Microsoft shuts down its Cortana app on Windows 11
After three years of discontinuing the Cortana app for iOS and Android, Microsoft is now shutting it down for Windows 11.
In addition to Windows 11, Microsoft is planning to discontinue the Cortana app in Teams mobile, Microsoft Teams Display, and Microsoft Teams Rooms in the last months of 2023. However, it will be available in the mobile app of Outlook.
If any user tries to open Cortana on Windows 11, they are directed to a support article which announces the discontinuation of the app.

The moves come as the app has been struggling to keep up with the comPetition such as Alexa or Google Assistant. While Cortana did not perform well enough, Microsoft has new options that can be used to replace the app such as Voice Access in Windows 11, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Windows Copilot and the new Bing.
