Meryl Streep and Martin Short enjoy Broadway outing after denying dating rumors
Meryl Streep and Martin Short were spotted enjoying an evening of Broadway together after denying speculation that they are dating.
The “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars were all smiles as they attended a showing of “Merrily We Roll Along” on Saturday night.
Streep, 74, and Short, 73, were seen sitting next to each other at the Hudson Theatre in an image of the pair shared by a theater-goer on X.
After the show, the duo headed backstage to congratulate the cast and snap some photos with the actors.
“Wonderful! You were wonderful,” Streep said in an Instagram video posted by Krystal Joy Brown, who plays Gussie Carnegie in the show. “What a show. What a show. It must be a joy, I hope it is. That was … wow.”
Short began to sing “Old Friends” from the show before Streep and the rest of the cast joined in on the impromptu rendition.
“Meryl & Martin Short?!?! I am absolutely floored,” Brown wrote on her Instagram Story. “I performed for these two legends and they were so kind & effusive about our show and said some kind words to me I will NEVER forget.”
The duo’s Broadway outing comes just weeks after they were photographed leaving dinner together.
The pair enjoyed a meal with a group of friends at trendy restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif. last month.
Rumors have been swirling for weeks that the pair are something of an item after they were seen looking friendly at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.
However, the “Saturday Night Live” alum shut down the chatter during an episode of the “Club Random with Bill Maher” podcast in January.
“We’re not a couple. We are just very close friends,” he insisted.
