Summer Celtic transfer target Mateusz Bogusz remains on the lookout for a move to Europe.

It comes after the Pole’s supposed move to the Hoops broke down last month.

LAFC were in talks with Celtic over a transfer, but nothing materialised. Bogusz eventually stayed in the States, but his Dad now wants him to move on soon.

Piotr Bogusz recently admitted that he and his son didn’t even want to make the switch stateside in the first place but were eventually convinced by LA’s forward-thinking plan.

Now, he thinks Bogusz junior has reached the latter stages of his American journey and that a move to Europe is next on the agenda.

“When we first heard about the interest from MLS, we didn’t treat it with much enthusiasm,” he said (Przeglad Sportoway via RecordSport).

“But the Americans didn’t give up, they were determined and that’s probably the main reason why he decided to make this move.

“They said that they saw goalscoring potential in him and that MLS would be just a stopover for him, because they would sell him to Europe after some time.

“We liked this vision and decided to take a risk. Today we see that risk has paid off, but he hopes sooner rather than later to return to Europe.”

Perhaps the versatile attacker’s decision to stay in America until the end of the year was wise, given the way the season works across the pond.

Indeed, LA’s campaign ends in December at the latest, so his club will be more likely to sell him in the January window should any reasonable offers come in.

Celtic might well return to the table for the 23-year-old in a few months if Brendan Rodgers feels his attacking options need to be bolstered midway through the season.

Their interest in Bogusz is well documented, and if the player wants out, speculation will only increase.
