Marist Alum Makes It Big With Massive Role In NBC Olympic Coverage

A Marist College graduate is preparing for his fifth trip to the Olympics; no not to compete, but with another incredibly important role, to serve as stage manager for parts of NBC's coverage.

Marist College Alum Paris Bound For NBC Olympic Coverage

Hudson Valley locals may recognize the name Todd Bivona, as this isn't the first time the Marist College alumnus has been recognized for his Olympic coverage. Bivona, class of 2007, will once again be part of the NBC coverage team, this time in Paris to serve as a stage manager for portions of the network's major coverage.

In a press release from the college, Marist shared that Bivona is already in Paris...

ready to cover the Summer Olympics for NBC as a stage manager for some of the network's daytime coverage and the entire primetime show. He will be responsible for 2pm-5pm EST, and again from 8pm-11pm.

2024 in Paris marks Bivona's fifth time on location with the Olympics, but his sixth involved with olympic coverage. Since his 2007 graduation from Marist, he's been involved with Vancouver 2010 from NBC headquarters, and then on location for Sochi, Rio, Pyeonchang, Tokyo, and now Paris.

Bivona's NBC experience extends well beyond Olympic coverage, he has assisted with NBC's production of the Premier League, NBC/NFL Network's Thursday Night Football, and Football Night in America for Sunday Night Football.

Todd Bivona's Marist Tenure

Bivona's involvement with the Marist Center for Sports Communication certainly set him up for success in his future career in the field of media. While at Marist, Bivona interned with HBO Sports, then went onto work with major networks like TLC, Comedy Central, QVC and the Food Network, has experience working live shows for Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, and even launched his own Staten Island based media production company called Gotham Trinity Productions.

Marist College Television is far and away one of the primary reasons why I got to where I am. I'll never forget my first paid freelance gig when four students were asked to work for CSI Sports at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center for a boxing event. I met a guy working a camera on a really long arm with remote controls on the end and massive weights. I came to learn he was a jib camera operator with a 24-foot-long jib. After I helped him pack it up, I gave him every way possible to contact me, and that catapulted me to an internship at HBO Sports my junior year.

In addition to the aforementioned work with several major networks and live productions, over the years Bivona has also been involved with covering the NHL Stanley Cup Final, Indy 500, various World Series and MLB All-Star Games, and several HBO Boxing productions.
