Man Utd star rejects Saudi Pro League speculation with 'level' jibe
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof says he has little interest in joining a Saudi Pro League side soon, adding he is keen to continue playing at the established 'level' in Europe.
The Red Devils are expected to be in for a busy summer following the investment of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, with a number of squad players likely to be moved on to free up squad space and funds for a rebuild.
Lindelof is one such player linked with an exit, with Sevilla touted as a potential destination. However, the Sweden international insisted he remains happy at Old Trafford and has little desire to join the raft of players leaving Europe for the Saudi Pro League.
He told Fotbollskanalen: "You will get the same answer as always [staying at Man Utd]. I enjoy the club and have been there for many, many years. We extended the contract by one year, I am enjoying myself and see no problem with staying and continuing to represent the club.
"It's a club I really enjoy playing in and representing, so that's my mindset."
On the temptation of the riches on offer in Saudi Arabia, he added: "I haven't actually thought about it. Maybe I don't really feel like I'm there in my career, that I want to get down to moving away. I feel that I want to stay in Europe and play Football at that level."
There could be a major shake-up in Man Utd's defence during the summer transfer window. Raphael Varane's future is up in the air, while Harry Maguire has consistently been linked with an Old Trafford exit in recent years. Veteran Jonny Evans will also likely be moved on once his contract expires.
Lisandro Martinez has impressed when fit but United are still in the market for a new centre-back. 90min understands the English giants are tracking Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite, who could make his England debut during the March friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.
Branthwaite, who signed a new four-year deal with the Toffees in October, has also attracted admirers at Real Madrid.
