Ohmigod you guys, Elle Woods is back. Hello Sunshine, Reese Witherspoon’s media company, has announced a prequel to Legally Blonde.

Legally Blonde is getting a prequel with Reese Witherspoon as producer

With her distinct personality and unmatched perseverance, Elle Woods had taught us back in 2001 two important things in life. One: there is more to life than looks, but that doesn’t mean you should compromise on who you really are. And two: the bend and snap.

So, how would someone with that knowledge navigate their life when they were young, before all the sorority parties, before the personality-handicapped boyfriend? The Legally Blonde prequel will take a look at how Elle Woods got through her high school years, along with the experiences and decisions she had to make to become the icon we know her for.

Whilst Reese Witherspoon serves as executive producer, she will be joined by Laura Kittrell (Insecure, Highschool) as showrunner and executive producer, along with Lauren Neustadter (The Morning Show, Daisy Jones & The Six), and Lauren Kisilevsky (La La Land, Cruella, Babylon).

“I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series!” said Witherspoon in a statement. “Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that?!”

As it is ordered by Amazon, we can expect the Legally Blonde prequel to land on Prime Video next year. Fans are already excited for Elle Woods’ return, with positive comments all over Witherspoon’s social media post.

Although the premiere date has not been announced yet, fans can also expect the third instalment of Legally Blonde that was confirmed to be in the works, with writing by Dan Goor (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and Mindy Kaling (Velma).
