The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors are two teams whose seasons ended in disappointing fashion last year.

Both are attempting to return to the status of being legitimate championship contenders.

So far throughout this offseason they have been fighting it out for Lauri Markkanen’s services. The Lakers’ offer to the Utah Jazz for him is a matter of public record. Ditto for the Warriors’. The latter squad, it appears, could close the deal – but they are refusing to include one key player in negotiations.

That could scuttle the whole thing.

In the meantime, a second player on the market seems to have piqued the curiosity of both Los Angeles and Golden State.

According to Brett Siegal of Clutchpoints, Bruce Brown is a name to watch.

“Speaking of the [Toronto] Raptors, they continue to explore the market for interest in veteran swingman Bruce Brown, who is entering the final year of his contract at $23 million,” he reported.

“…Los Angeles maintains interest in him this offseason. One team whispered to have interest in Brown and was quietly mentioned as a possible suitor months ago is the Golden State Warriors.”

It will be interesting to see if either the Lakers or Warriors ultimately pull the trigger on a deal for Brown.

While he isn’t a huge difference-maker on the court from a star power perspective, he is definitely the sort of change you make around the peripheries that could drastically alter the fit of a team.

There is a reason he had the impact he ultimately had on the Denver Nuggets.

Whether or not the Lakers or Warriors figure out a way to finagle Brown when everything is said and done remains to be seen.
