Lakers Stun Entire NBA With Blockbuster Austin Reaves Trade Proposal

The Los Angeles Lakers’ disappointing offseason has been the subject of much conversation.

Despite coming into this summer hoping to add a big name like Klay Thompson, Dejounte Murray or DeMar DeRozan, the Lakers’ biggest offseason addition thus far has been Bronny James.

There have been rumblings about L.A. possibly adding Jerami Grant from the Portland Trail Blazers, but one major roadblock has thus far prevented a deal from occurring.

This week the Lakers were linked to a possible deal with the Atlanta Hawks that could solve two major problems for them.

As noted by Fadeaway World, a trade that sees Bogdan Bogdanovic and Clint Capela heading to Los Angeles in return for Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, a 2025 second rounder and a 2027 second-rounder could be a win-win for all sides.

L.A. would immediately get a sharpshooter they desperately need and a solid rim protector behind Anthony Davis. The latter has repeatedly expressed interest in playing the four more. Capela would allow him to do that.

Obviously the Lakers don’t want to part with Reaves, but the reality is that he doesn’t elevate them to the next level. He is a good role player – but nothing more than that. Bogdanovic fits the existing roster better, as does Capela.

Moreover, dumping Vincent’s contract is a huge win in itself.

Will the Lakers ultimately make this trade? It’s hard to say. Should they, though? They should give it some serious thought at the very least.
