The Denver Nuggets flamed out in the second round of the NBA playoffs this year.

A season removed from winning the championship, Nikola Jokic and Co. now enter a summer filled with uncertainty.

While Jokic and Jamal Murray obviously aren’t going anywhere, Michael Porter Jr.’s future is far less secure.

Porter Jr. scored seven points on 3-of-12 shooting from the field in Denver’s final Game of the season, leading to a ton of speculation that the Nuggets may move him in an effort to upgrade the roster.

Back in 2021, Porter Jr. inked a five-year extension with the Nuggets. With the end date of that extension now approaching, this is the front office’s opportunity to get something for the talented 25-year-old.

This past season Porter Jr. averaged 16.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. If he does end up getting put on the trade block, there is no shortage of potential suitors for him.

According to odds makers, if Porter Jr. ends up getting dealt, the Los Angeles Lakers are currently the frontrunners to acquire him. They are currently +300.

Just behind L.A. is the New Orleans Pelicans. They sit at +400.

The Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs round out the top six as far as Porter Jr.’s suitors go, coming in at +600, +600 and +1000 respectively.

Michael Porter Jr. Wants To Remain With Nuggets

While Porter Jr. may end up getting traded, if it were up to him, he would remain in Denver.

Following the Nuggets’ disappointing second-round loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves,  Porter Jr. took full responsibility for what transpired – particularly in Game 7.

“This was a terrible series,” Porter Jr. told Bennett Durando of The Denver Post. “I felt like I might’ve had one or two good Games out of the seven we played.”

Where will Porter Jr. ultimately be playing when the 2023-24 NBA season tips off? Time will tell.
