Lakers Officially Make 4 Players Available For Trade
With the NBA offseason having officially commenced, the Los Angeles Lakers got right to work on Sunday.
Amid reports that the front office had given up on the prospect of adding a third star alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and instead decided to target four ‘realistic’ options, many began speculating about who precisely would have to be given up in order to make that happen.
Early Monday morning, an answer presented itself.
L.A. has officially made four players available for trade over the past 24 hours. It appears as though they don’t fit with the general vision that new head coach J.J. Redick has for the future.
According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, a group of key role players could be sent out in favor of upgrading the roster.
“The Lakers have also been exploring trade scenarios with the contracts of D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent, sources said, and Brook Lopez has been one of the primary options on the Lakers’ board of hopeful acquisitions, sources said,” he wrote.
This aligns with a recent report suggesting that Russell is on the verge of being traded. The move is expected to be finalized in the next few days.
It goes without saying that the biggest name Los Angeles is currently linked to is Klay Thompson. The soon-to-be ex-Golden State Warriors star has reportedly narrowed his options for his next team down to two squads. Who he will ultimately go with remains to be seen.
The Lakers have also been linked to one prominent sharpshooter over the past 24 hours who could really alleviate some of their three-point woes.
Beyond that, it is anybody’s guess what Rob Pelinka and Co. will do.
There is also the matter of the one player the organization is still trying to dump in order to free up playing time for second-round pick Bronny James.
One way or another, the next few days promise to be hectic for the Lakers. What will the roster look like when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
