Lakers’ Current Biggest NBA Trade Target

The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten off to a strong start in 2024.

The team is currently 3-1 and could have easily been 4-0 if not for some bad play against the Phoenix Suns.

Aside from a brief spat between LeBron James and new head coach J.J. Redick, L.A. has been firing on all cylinders.

Because Los Angeles is actually looking pretty good right now, many have wondered if this would incentivize the front office to improve the roster a bit.

According to team insider Jovan Buha, the Lakers have one big trade target in mind right now.

“I think we need more time to see which guys become available,” he said.

“I think Walker Kessler is a name that the Lakers have been interested in that would make a lot of sense and would allow you to either start a two-big look or, probably more realistically, bring him off the bench and then play two-big shifts and then, in certain matchups, close with two bigs.”

Buha then noted that a few other big names could make sense, too – albeit not in the same way as Kessler.

“Jerami Grant, Bruce Brown, Dorian Finney-Smith, Cam Johnson, the guys they’ve kind of gone after or been interested in in the past,” he added.

It will be interesting to see what direction the Lakers opt to go in here.

They have gotten off to a much better start to the season than most imagined they would. But it has been pretty much due to Anthony Davis playing out of his mind.

If Davis gets hurt or slows down – things could get ugly in a hurry.

Will the Lakers provide Davis with some support in the middle to take some pressure off him? An answer one way or the other is coming soon enough.
