The Dallas Mavericks stole homecourt advantage from the Oklahoma City Thunder this past week when they won Game 2 of their second-round playoff matchup.

Now the series is tied at one victory apiece headed to Dallas.

To say that there is bad blood between these two squads would be an understatement. OKC’s fans, in particular, seem to really have gotten under various Mavericks players’ skins.

On Thursday night, following Dallas’ big victory, Mavericks star Kyrie Irving dished out a brutal three-word insult towards Thunder fans.

“Bye bye pu**y,” he said to an OKC fan who had reportedly been taunting him all game.

After the outing, Irving went on a rant about Thunder fans in general.

“Yeah the fans threw the ball away from Luka… and he didn’t even look at Luka eye to eye, and Luka was very nonchalant about it like he was very cool about it, and for a fan to do that, then that’s my time to step in as a teaMMAte and be like, what the f***?” Irving said.

“What the f*** are you doing? Excuse my language for that. I asked him, like, ‘What are you doing?’ This is not about you right now. You know, you’re not even wearing the Thunder blue shirt. You’re trying to distinguish yourself out here. You’re trying to get on Twitter to stay active.

“Like, I know, come on, that’s our generation that we’re in. Everybody’s trying to go viral when they’re at NBA games instead of focusing on the players and the task at hand. So, when you do that to my teammate, of course, I’m going to stand up… It was the same guys there. Different guys heckling, but little do they know that, that motivates us.”

Irving put up nine points, 11 assists and three rebounds in Game 2, but clearly his impact extends beyond just the stats. And what he is doing here is defending his teammates.

Will the Mavericks be able to build on their Game 2 momentum and win Game 3 as well? Time will tell.
