JJ Redick Tries To Explain Why Lakers Continue To Suck Under His Watch
J.J. Redick got the Los Angeles Lakers off to a 3-0 start at the beginning of this season.
Many fans thought this was the dawn of a new day.
Not so.
L.A. is now 1-3 in their last four outings – punctuated by a loss to the woeful Detroit Pistons on Monday night.
After the Pistons game, Redick stepped up to the podium and tried to explain himself.
“I would say if there was one thing, we just need to start the Game with a little more just pride defensively,” he said of where L.A. went wrong against Detroit.
“I thought our effort and just fight in the second half was really good, that third quarter defensively was… I think some ways just a blueprint for what wasn’t perfect but in terms of effort was really good.”

“We’re all disappointed. We’re all disappointed,” Redick added regarding the Pistons loss.
Davis was particularly frustrated with his coach and teammates after the Pistons loss, but Redick came to his defense.
“The guy can have 30 and 12 and people want more from him. … It’s just always been a thing with him when he’s been with the Lakers. That’s a fact,” Redick said of his big man.
The Lakers look exactly as they have over the past few seasons.
They can win some games impressively – and then one game later they lose equally embarrassingly.
It’s a mess.
And one that Redick can’t seem to fix either.
Will 2024 mark the year that everyone finally realizes it’s time to blow this Lakers squad up and start anew? Time will tell.
