While Celtic triumphed 2-0 at home to Dundee last night, fans in the Parkhead stands had one eye on events at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen emerged 2-1 victors from their hotly anticipated clash with Rangers, keeping themselves level on points with the Hoops at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Both the Dons and Celtic are now nine points clear of the Gers, and we haven’t even reached November yet.

Jimmy Thelin has done a terrific job since arriving in the Granite City over the summer.

He has transformed Aberdeen into a force to be reckoned with but refuses to get bogged down by title talk. His side being level on points with champions Celtic and nine clear of Rangers 10 Games into the season has naturally set the heater alight, though.

Indeed, the BBC asked Thelin last night if his team is in a title race with the Bhoys: “No,” he promptly replied, immediately shutting down any suggestions of a battle for the Scottish Premiership crown.

“It’s still early, and we know that, and that’s why we have to stay focused.

“Now it’s a semi-final, we have to recover and focus on that one.”

The current league standings set up a blockbuster Premier Sports Cup semi-final between the Hoops and Aberdeen this Saturday.

Hampden will be rocking for the clash of Scottish Football’s current two best teams, with each vying for a place in December’s final.

If the enthralling 2-2 draw between the sides a few weeks ago was anything to go by, Saturday will be box office.
