Jelly Roll Will ‘Occasionally’ Enjoy Cheat Meals Amid His 100-Lb. Weight Loss Journey: ‘He Does Good’
Country star Jelly Roll is surrounded by temptation and calories when on the road but he’s working overtime to stay on track and not fall on bad habits as he continues his weight loss journey.
“He’s lost more than 100 pounds and that’s a huge accomplishment,” a source exclusively tells Life & Style. “He wants to lose more weight, so it’s important to him not to be tempted by waffles and fried chicken every time they pass a Waffle House. He’s not going to throw it down the pan for the sake of a quick fast-food fix.”
The insider notes that Jelly, 39, still allows himself cheat meals, saying, “Occasionally, he will splurge but by and large he does good, and people are proud of him.”
“He tries so hard. His chef [Chef Larios] is helping and whipping up Healthy versions of his favorite meals, and reminding him, is that second helping worth it?”
The “Son of a Sinner” artist – real name Jason DeFord – recently opened up about his lifelong battle with food addiction, telling People that he’s working on “changing the way I’ve looked at food for the last 39 years.”
“I’ve never had a Healthy relationship with food, so that was the hard part. But once you get into that discipline and commitment, it’s like an avalanche. Once that little snowball started rolling, it was on its way,” he said in an interview published on November 20. “Nobody in my house ever had [a Healthy relationship with food], so that was the hard part, really fighting that demon at first and getting into that discipline and that commitment.”
The Tennessee native has lost more than 100 pounds in 2024, having hit his highest weight of 557 pounds in 2015. But he doesn’t plan on slowing down. In addition to completely overhauling his diet, Jelly also revamped his Lifestyle.
“It’s cool because there was once a time in life that the culture I built on tour was the opposite. It revolved around alcohol and drugs,” he told People. “And now our tour culture is around good eating and around exercising and doing emotional check-ins with our crew every day.”
Deal of the Day
These ‘Cloud-Soft’ Sandals Are 53% Off Today View Deal“We’ve been playing basketball three days a week now,” Jelly told Joe Rogan during an October 11 appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. He added that he was also “working out everyday walking around the arenas,” and “going to the gym now.” Jelly hit another fitness goal when he trained for and completed his first 5K race in May alongside comedian pals Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura.
“I’ve never been more dialed in. I’ve never cared more about it. I’ve never been happier,” he said of taking care of his Health.
Just days away from turning 40 and more than halfway through his Beautifully Broken tour, “Jelly Roll is exercising to prepare for those rigorous performances, working out on the treadmill and doing other low impact moves,” the source adds.
“He said people weren’t going to recognize him in 2025 and he means Business.”
