Choreographer Remo D'Souza and his wife, Lizelle D'Souza, have been named in a legal case accusing them of cheating a dance troupe out of $1.44 million

The case was registered at Mira Road police station in the Thane district of Maharashtra, as reported by the police on Saturday.

The complaint was filed by a 26-year-old dancer who claimed that between 2018 and July 2024, Remo and others allegedly posed as the owners of his dance troupe, fraudulently claiming the prize money of $1.44 million from a reality TV show they had won.

The case also involves five other individuals, including Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav, Vinod Raut, and Ramesh Gupta, alongside a policeman.

All accused have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 465 (forgery) and 420 (cheating).

Investigations into the case have attracted significant media attention due to Remo D'Souza’s prominent career in Bollywood.

Remo is known for choreographing in nearly 100 films and appearing on dance reality shows, including Dance India Dance. His upcoming film Be Happy is set to premiere soon.
