'I feel sad' - Andre Onana reveals devastation at Man Utd's late draw with Brentford
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana expressed his frustration after his side's 1-1 draw away at Brentford on Saturday night.
The Red Devils were second-best for much of the contest in west London but looked to have snatched an improbable win when Mason Mount put them ahead in the 96th minute. However, Kristoffer Ajer came up with an equaliser three minutes later to ensure the hosts took a deserved point.
Speaking post-match to MUTV, Onana admitted such a late sucker-punch was difficult to swallow.
"I feel sad because we are Manchester United, so it doesn't matter who you play. Everywhere we go, we have to win," he said.
"We gave away this Game in the end. We did a fantastic job defending, it was not our best Game but the most important thing was to win. So, yeah, it's difficult."
Onana was one of United's only standout performers, coming up with five crucial saves from Brentford's 31 shots, including a tremendous double-stop to deny Yehor Yarmolyuk and then Keane Lewis-Potter.
"The most important thing is the victory of the team," Onana stressed.
"It's good when you contribute and you have a victory. Of course, we didn't lose this Game but the way we conceded that goal is bad for all of us because we are in this together. We blocked shots and made saves together.
"As a leader and experienced player, we have to take responsibility and always stay positive because it's the biggest club in the country.
"We have to continue working hard and be humble. I know we will stick together because we did it in the last month. I hope we end in the top four."
United are now 11 points adrift of fourth-place Aston Villa, though do retain a Game in hand. They are also eight points behind Tottenham.
