How much money does Tarik Skubal make a year? Detroit Tigers’ ace pitcher’s contract details
In January 2024, the Tigers’ star put pen to paper on a lucrative one-year deal that has since come to look like a bargain given what he’s produced on the field. To that end, we take a closer look at the contract of Tarik Skubal.
What does Tarik Skubal’s contract look like?
Hailed by New York Yankees icon Aaron Judge as “the best pitcher in the Game right now”, the Detroit Tigers’ Tarik Skubal is pretty much that and then some. Indeed, across the 2024 campaign, the 27-year-old has maintained a record of record 18-4 with a 2.39 ERA, 228 strikeouts, and 35 walks in 155.1 innings of work, making him statistically the best-starting pitcher in the American League.
When considering those figures, it’s interesting to note that Skubal just avoided arbitration before signing a one-year contract with the Tigers back on January 11th, 2024. That of course brings us to the terms of said contract and just how much the California native is pocketing.
Now, according to reports, Skubal’s one-year contract is valued at $2.65 million and it is understood that all of it is guaranteed. Needless to say, that’s a significant improvement on the previous one-year deal that he signed with the Tigers in 2023 which was worth $743,700. It should also be said that Skubal is set to hit unrestricted free agency in 2025, which is to say it will be interesting to see what the Tigers do following a campaign in which he has once again shown himself to be among the elite pitchers of the league.
