Despite suffering a morale sapping home defeat on Wednesday when late triples from Luka Doncic and P.J Washington saw Dallas Mavericks snatch a late win over the Minnesota in Game 1, Timberwolves fans are still dreaming that this could be the year when the team secure the holy grail that is the NBA Championship title.

2004 was the only season since their inception in 1989, that the team from Minneapolis have ever progressed to the Conference finals and on that occasion they came up short against LA Lakers eventually falling 4-2.

If fans of the Twin Cities team are to see their dream fulfilled, they will need a better showing from Anthony Edwards. The 22-year-old shooting guard has delivered some majestic performances this season but was far from his best on Wednesday with Jaden McDaniels topping the scoring charts with 24 points on the night for the T’Wolves.

The manner of the defeat on Wednesday annoyed Wolves coach Chris Finch as he pointed out the team’s errors as part of a video debriefing session on Thursday.

Speaking after the meeting with his players, the 54-year-old claimed: “It was a rough film session, I told the guys, ‘It’s been a long time since I’ve been this disappointed in your effort. Your performance, your attitude, your application and attention to detail just wasn’t there.’

Watching Game 2 at the Target Center

If you’re in Minneapolis on Friday night and fancy taking in some NBA action, the good news is that tickets for the game are still available but this being the Western Conference finals, they don’t come supercheap with Game 2 ticket prices starting from $199 for the cheapest seats via Ticketmaster’s resale platform.

However for those fans who want to see the action at closer call tickets (singles only) are available for $500 with no VIP courtside tickets left.
