4:33 pm Santa Anita (Race 2) – Mongolian Ford 7/5 (2-star play)

The son of Shackleford has registered some decent efforts in defeat in recent months including when fifth over 6 furlongs at this level here on his penultimate start. Claimed by current connections following that effort the 5-year-old faded late on when three-and-three-quarter-lengths third in a $20,000 claimer over a mile here 2 weeks later. Armando Aguilar is again in the saddle and he is taken to steer Steve R. Knapp’s gelding to a third career success.  

6:41 pm Santa Anita (Race 6) – First Peace 8/5 (2-star play)

The 3-year-old took three 3 to break his maiden doing so by 2 lengths in a mile contest at this venue back in October. Two stakes placed efforts over the same trip followed prior to delivering a length victory in a course and distance stakes race when making his seasonal debut last month. Had 2 of his rivals here back in second (Mas Rapido) and third (Vallancer) on that occasion and he looks capable of confirming that form.

7:14 pm Santa Anita (Race 7) – Claim Of Passion 9/5 (2-star play)

The selection performed well when winning by a head in a $16,000 claiming contest over a mile-and-seventy-yards at Pleasanton in June last year, and while he hasn’t scored since he has delivered some decent efforts. The 7-year-old faded when seven-and-a-half-lengths fourth in a mile $12,500 claiming contest at this venue in early February. Joined the Ronald W Ellis yard following that effort and he is taken to register a fifth career win following a 5-furlong work here last Monday.
