Horse Racing picks for Keeneland race track on Sunday, October 8

1:00 pm Keeneland (Race 1) – G T Five Hundred 8/5 (2-star play)

The three-year-old G T Five Hundred has finished on the board in three of his last five starts including when beaten a length in a $25,000 claiming contest at Hawthorne on his penultimate start. Ingrid Mason’s colt raced over 1200m that day but had no issue with the mile trip when overhauled late on when filling the same position in a $20,000 claimer at the same venue subsequently. He looks up to going one better upped a sixteenth in distance. 

5:16 pm Keeneland (Race 9) – Nest 6/5 (2-star play)

The winner of the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes here in April last year, Nest has mainly been comPeting at the top level since with the exceptions being Grade 2 wins in the Beldame Stakes at Aqueduct in October last year and the Shuvee Stakes at Saratoga in July. The selection’s latest effort came when third in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign over this trip on a sloppy track at Saratoga and she is taken to return to winning ways. 

5:48 pm Keeneland (Race 10) – Noted 3/1 (2-star play)

A $200,000 purchase as a yearling last year, Noted has won both starts since finishing runner-up in a 1000m turf maiden at Belmont Park when making his debut in June. The most recent of those saw him come from off the pace to deliver a length victory in the LIsted Sapling Stakes over a mile at Monmouth Park in August. Todd Pletcher’s youngster has a top jockey up and looks capable of completing a hat-trick.
