The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Cleveland Guardians will meet in interleague play this Friday in Phoenix from Chase Field.

Guardians Betting Preview

Cleveland moved to 32-36 after dropping two of three to San Diego. The Guardians avoided the sweep by taking Game three, and they’ll search for better results in the desert this week. The Cleveland offense is scoring 3.85 runs per Game, while batting .229, with a .304 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.78 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP. Jose Ramirez has recorded multiple hits in five of the last seven Games, and he leads the Guardians in hits (73), with 10 home runs and 40 RBI. Josh Naylor carries a fourteen-Game hit streak into this series, and after collecting multiple hits in seven of the last nine Games, he leads Cleveland in BA (.288) and RBI (48). Josh Bell has homered in each of the last two series, and he’s posting splits of .237/6/31.

Triston McKenzie (0-1, 4.50 ERA, 15 Ks) will take the mound for Cleveland. The fourth-year pitcher struggled in his first home spot of the season against Houston, allowing five runs in five innings to take his first loss of the season. McKenzie tossed ten strikeouts in his season debut in Minnesota at the beginning of June, and he’ll look to bring that effort to the desert this Friday.

Diamondbacks Betting Preview

Arizona moved to 41-28 after being dropping three of four by Philadelphia. The Diamondbacks had their six-Game win streak halted after dropping the final three contests,, and they’ll look to close this home stand on a much higher note this weekend. The Arizona offense is scoring 4.78 runs per Game, while batting .273, with a .332 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.84 ERA, with a 1.36 WHIP. Christian Walker went deep in Game two to bring his team-leads to 13 home runs and 42 RBI. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went hitless in three Games against Philly, and he fell to second on the team in RBI with 39. Corbin Carroll produced runs in the first two Games against the Phillies, and he’s posting nice splits of .306/14/35.

Zac Gallen (7-2, 3.09 ERA, 57 Ks) will get the ball  for Arizona. The fifth-year pitcher struggled a bit in Detroit on Sunday, allowing a season-high five runs in 5.2 innings pitched. finally had his scoreless innings streak snapped, but he still pitched well in Austin against the Rangers, striking out six over five innings pitched. Gallen was dominant towards the end of April, and he’s cleared seven strikeouts in five of his first seven starts.

Cleveland vs Arizona Trends

Cleveland is 33-35 against the spread this season, with a 26-40-2 O/U record. Arizona is 41-28 ATS this year, with a 33-32-4 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Cleveland shouldn’t be taken lightly this weekend, but with Zac Gallen set to get the ball first, I think Arizona comes out and responds to the sweep they just suffered. The DBacks dropped the last two contests by a solo run, so there should be a sense of urgency to get back into the win column to protect their division lead. This should also serve as a bounce back series at the plate for the Arizona bats, and Game one should sway their way at home. Back the DBacks this Friday, and with a potential pitchers duel in place, give the Under a look closer to the first pitch.
