The matches this morning have been dominated by Europe, who sent out a very strong team with its eight top golfers. US Captain Zach Johnson was questioned about benching Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Wyndham Clark and the big surprise, Brooks Koepka and it looks like the critics were right. The Americans looked as if they had never stepped foot on the course in Rome with shots in the water and without even coming close to making a putt.

So far things are looking up for Luke Donald and his team this morning as they lead in all four matches. Anything can happen in match play golf, as we saw in the Solheim Cup last week when Team USA went up 4-0 on Friday morning, but couldn’t hold on to the lead and ended up halving the event with the European squad 14 - 14 and thus retaining the cup. Golf fans all over the world will be following the action this afternoon and on the weekend to see who comes out on top at the 2023 Ryder Cup.

We are currently waiting for the team captains to make their announcements on the pairings for this afternoon’s matches. As soon as Luke Donald and Zach Johnson announce the 8 players for the four-ball format, we’ll be sure to update the information below.

The Friday afternoon four-ball pairings are:
